This is the cornerstone of the rainwater harvesting system, tasked with removing up to 70% of impurities by catching and setting aside the dirtiest initial runoff from each rainfall, keeping it from entering the cistern. The Tlaloque is modular: it lets you expand your system's capture capacity by adding more units and linking collection surfaces. In urban settings, the Tlaloque handles catchment areas of up to 100 m².

The Tlaloquito also separates the dirtiest initial runoff from each downpour so it never reaches the cistern. It is a 40-liter chamber that receives the first flush washing off the roof. Once the Tlaloque fills with this first rinse, the cleaner rain that follows flows straight into the cistern or storage tank. The diverted runoff inside the Tlaloque should be drained before the next rain, leaving the first-flush diverter empty and ready to begin the process anew.

This filter is an original Isla Urbana design. In your rainwater harvesting system, it marks step two (2) of the journey: after rain falls on the roof and flows down through the gutters, it passes through this first stage, the Filtro de hojas IU. This basket-style mesh filter catches leaves and coarse organic matter to keep them out of the cistern. Once the water passes through this fine stainless steel mesh, it journeys on to the Tlaloque.

Reductor de Turbulencia Axolote

The turbulence reducer is designed to gently introduce incoming water into the cistern or storage tank, preventing settled sediments and solids at the bottom from being stirred up by the incoming flow. Placed at the base of the cistern, it connects directly to the pipe arriving from the Tlaloque or first-flush diverter.

Colloidal Silver Spheres

Colloidal silver spheres provide bacteriological disinfection when placed inside an 1,100 L water storage container (small model) or a 5,000 L container (large model). The silver dispenser floats in pre-filtered water for a minimum of four hours (depending on water hardness) to curb the growth of microorganisms. These silver-impregnated ceramic spheres release steady ions that interact with bacterial cell walls, effectively neutralizing them.
